Emergency services in Manchester arrived at Dale Street after reports a person was seen in the water.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed the man has been admitted to hospital.
A spokesman for the force said: “At approximately 10.37pm on Sunday, August 29, police were called to a report of a male in the canal on Dale Street, in Manchester.
“Officers attended along with GMFRS and a male was taken to hospital for assessment.”
