Mr Galloway, leader of the Workers Party of Britain, is running against Labour’s Kim Leadbeater in the Batley and Spen By-Election. Labour’s candidate is the sister of Jo Cox MP who was murdered by a far-right extremist in 2016. The Conservatives are putting forward Ryan Stephenson to challenge the predominantly working-class West Yorkshire seat and hope to dislodge it from Labour.

The by-election takes place on July 1 and Mr Galloway has mocked Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer many times ahead of the vote.

Today Mr Galloway tweeted: “I supported Jeremy Corbyn. More than 90 percent of his MPs and you know it.

“Despite all my disagreements with him. I’m more labour than Labour and you know that too.

“Kick Starmer out and start again.”

    “Everyone else is practically unelectable.”

Sir Keir Starmer has claimed there is a media “circus” surrounding the by-election, and that this is “disrespectful” to the voters.

However, Mr Galloway hit back on Twitter.

He tweeted: “Starmer called our campaign ‘a circus’. Thing is, people are drawn to a circus.

“Not many are drawn to the Donkey Derby.

“What he really means is that our campaign, with three weeks to go, dwarfs all the others put together.

    “He’s not waving he’s drowning.”
