“Given that this is a seasonal issue, we understand that Brits will not want to fork out loads of money on preventative measures.

“Therefore, we have connected with our in-house spider expert and bathroom design team and have shared cost-effective, easy hacks to stop spiders living in our bathrooms rent-free.”

Peppermint tea bags aren’t the only natural product that can be used to deter spiders.

Homeowners can make spider repellent by mixing about 20 drops of an essential oil with water in a spray bottle.

Then, spray the corners of the bathroom or any moist areas that are likely to attract insects. The best essential oils include tea tree, lavender, and cinnamon, as well as peppermint.

Citrus fruits, like lemon, are other strong-smelling ingredients spiders are not big fans of. Therefore, it is worth cleaning your bathroom with any citrus-based products.

Speaking of lemons, it is also worth rubbing lemon peel on your window sills, bath tubs, and toilet bowls.

This is instead of citrus-scented products as the peel will work in the same way.

Another handy and cheap trick is to use conkers.

Placing conkers on your window sill is said to deter conkers, and now is the perfect time of year to collect them.

While spiders may be considered a nuisance by many, they can prove to be useful at times, especially when it comes to getting rid of other insects, such as fruit flies.

However, this does also mean they are attracted to them. Therefore, ensuring your fruit bowl is free of fruit flies will help keep the spiders away.

Additionally, don’t eat in your bathroom and throw away any food wrappers that might have been left behind there.

This can be said for the rest of the house to as spiders are attracted to waste, as well as bits of food left behind on tables and kitchen countertops.
