Sow peas and broad beans
Broad bean varieties including super aquadulce, aquadulce claudia and imperial green longpod can be sown now as the month draws to a close.
The end of October is great for sowing peas as well as broad beans – be sure to try organic varieties like the Douce Provence pea for an earthy green.
Feltham first, meteor and pilot peas – which are very hardy – are also ideal for growing right now.

- Corn salad
- Land cress
Herb seeds such as basil, dill, chives, and parsley can be sown now and grown on your windowsill throughout the winter if you’re looking for an indoor crop.
