Brain Gaze, forecaster at The Weather Outlook said a “new plume” of high pressure from North Africa is due to hit the UK towards the end of this month which will see temperatures soar. For the week beginning Monday, June 28, Mr Gaze added: “A warm feed is coming up from Northern Africa or Southern Europe.

“There is a significant chance of it tuning much warmer again.”

But he stressed warmer conditions were more likely to be confined to southern England with northern parts of the UK feeling much milder.

On Tuesday, June 29, temperatures in London will see averages of 24C (75.2F) and Cardiff 23C (73.4F) with a milder 20C (68F) in Edinburgh, according to The Weather Outlook.

These temperatures are expected to be some of the highest temperatures recorded since temperatures in Santon Downham, in Suffolk, reached a high of 28.2C (82.76F) on Wednesday, June 16.

But this is just below the 29.7C (85.46F) recorded in Teddington, Middlesex, on Monday, June 14, which was the hottest day of the year so far.

The latest MSLP charts from The Weather Outlook and Netweather reveal this new ridge of high pressure will start to drift towards the UK from next Thursday, with the charts turning dark red.

Veteran Weather Forecaster Michael Fish, added: “There is a heatwave not far away, you can see that red shading all over the continent.”

It comes as the Met Office has forecast outbreaks of rain to hit the south of England late Saturday afternoon into Saturday night.

Further rain is predicted for the south of England, northern Scotland and Northern Ireland on Sunday, while the rest of the country will likely be dry with some bright or sunny spells.

Met Office spokesman Grahame Madge said the rain “deluge” would most likely last into next week.
