Britons have welcomed the surging temperatures and glorious sunshine that has moved in since the start of the Bank Holiday Weekend and the heatwave-like conditions look set to stay for weeks to come, with at least 16 days of hot temperatures. Weather charts show maximum afternoon temperatures are unlikely to dip below 20C over the next fortnight, with a scorching 30C forecast for Sunday, June 13.
The sizzling temperatures look set to continue this week, with 26C forecast later this afternoon, according to charts by Netweather.
The warm weather is set to continue through the week and into the weekend, with charts showing the mercury is set to stay in the low-to-mid-20s for much of England.
The start of next week will see a continuation of the hot sunshine, with 24C forecast on both Monday and Tuesday.
As the week progresses, temperatures are set to near 30C (86F), as the hot spell covers the whole of the UK.
A weather chart valid for 3pm on Thursday, June 10 shows much of Britain turn a deep red as temperatures soar well into the 20s.
Highs of 26C are forecast in the south east, while temperatures are set to reach 23C across the rest of the country, including parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Friday is set to be warmer still, with a scorching 27C forecast in the capital and highs of 26C forecast elsewhere.
The blistering sunshine will continue into the weekend, with highs of 28C forecast by Saturday afternoon.

He added: “For most of us it is going to stay fine for the rest of this week.
“Temperatures probably peaking for most on Wednesday before things do turn a little cooler.
For the period Sunday, June 6 to Tuesday, June 15, the Met Office said there is “chance of some very warm or hot spells at times”.
BBC forecasters expect western and southern areas to see the best of the warm weather, while northern and eastern areas could be marked by scattered showers.
The forecasters added that mid-June is set to be particularly promising, with hot weather on the way.
They said: “The best chances for some summer-like dry, sunny, and warm weather will be around mid-June when high pressure extends into the British Isles from the southwest.
“This would drag warmer air from the sub-tropical Atlantic into Northwest Europe along a gentle southwest wind, displacing the cooler North Atlantic air towards Iceland and East Europe.”
