This week Britain is set to enjoy balmy 21C temperatures in an Indian Summer in the buildup to Halloween. The Met Office said that warm air coming from Africa would bring a mild spell of weather across the country particularly in South East England.
However, the north of Scotland will face some rain bursts and blustery conditions.
On Sunday evening, forecaster Rebecca Mitchell said that the coming week would see warm spells.
She said: “Southerly winds will bring a mild spell across the UK next week, particularly in the southeast where temperatures could reach around 20 or 21C.
“Southerly winds will draw up warm air from the continent.
“This air will have originated over Africa.”
Ms Mitchell also confirmed that Monday would however see some unsettled conditions in Scotland, Northern England and Northern Ireland.
She said: “It will be a bright and breezy day for most, although some showers will remain across Scotland and Northern Ireland.
“Winds will be strongest across southern Scotland and northern England, where gusts could reach between 50-60mph in exposed locations.

She said: “Halloween is a bit too far away to give an exact temperature forecast, but at this stage, temperatures look likely to be around average for the time of year, which is around 15C.”
Dr Mark McCarthy of the Met Office’s National Climate Information Centre, said that 2022 could one of the warmest years on record.
He said: “It was the warmest year so far up to the end of September, with each month since January being warmer than average.
“2022 is on track to be one of the warmest years on record if warmer-than-average conditions persist.”
