‘The hole in my yoga mat is a piece of bubblemint chewing gum. The hole in my yoga mat is a severed Aztec breast,’ she began.

‘The hole in my yoga mat is my mother’s brain injury. The hole in my yoga mat is a breast implant. The hole in my yoga mat is a blood cell.’

    The passage then went deeper.

'The hole in my mat was a baby. A lung trying to breathe?' Jessica, 35, expressed her creativity in the form of a poem inspired by a hole in her yoga mat

‘The hole in my mat was a baby. A lung trying to breathe? The hole in my yoga mat is my father’s heart attack,’ she continued.

‘The hole in my yoga mat is an angry fist. The hole in my yoga mat is a torn ankle ligament. The hole in my yoga mat is not something that can be fixed.

‘The hole in my yoga mat is wear and tear, can be covered and adjusted. The hole in my yoga mat has made practising difficult.

Deep: 'The hole in my yoga mat inspires me. The hole in my mat has made practising interesting... The hole in my yoga mat is trying,' she wrote

She concluded: ‘The hole in my yoga mat is a soul singing, sighing, silence. Stillness. Salutes. Serenity. Searching. Surrender. Satisfaction, sensuality. Serious and silly. Sorrow, sparkles and seasons.’

Earlier this month, Jessica penned a tribute to her late mother, Karen, ahead of Mother’s Day.

‘You will always be a tree of life dancing through the flames,’ Jessica wrote on Instagram, alongside a stunning artwork she created in her mum’s memory.

Karen Marais died in August last year.

At the time, her close friend Hugh Sheridan confirmed the heartbreaking news in an Instagram post.

‘I’m grieving for my dearest and sweetest friend, who has now lost both of her parents far too young,’ he wrote.

Jessica was just nine years old when she watched her father, university dean Tony Marais, collapse and die of a heart attack.

In 2011, Jessica told News.com.au she was haunted by her father’s death, and lived in fear of losing other loved ones in the same way.

But she credited her mother with helping the family ‘pull through a very hard time’.
