Today host Karl Stefanovic cringes when Prince Harry's name is mentioned

Karl Stefanovic has never been afraid to voice his opinion about the Royal Family.

And the 46-year-old cringed on Wednesday when his Today show co-host Allison Langdon mentioned Prince Harry’s name on air.

Allison, 42, was introducing the breakfast show’s next guest, Global Citizen founder Hugh Evans, when she revealed he had worked alongside the Duke of Sussex.

‘Our next guest is a Melbourne man with the likes of Lady Gaga, Hugh Jackman and Prince Harry all on speed dial,’ she said.

‘Prince Harry?’ Karl winced before bursting into laugher.

Allison responded: ‘Well, once upon a time, you would have liked Prince Harry on speed dial!’

‘Yes, I know, I know… I love him,’ Karl said before continuing the segment.

Last month, Karl took a took a savage dig at Prince Harry while discussing his plans to write an explosive Megxit memoir, which will hit shelves next year.

The Duke of Sussex, 36, has been secretly working on the book about his life as a royal for nearly a year after landing a book deal rumoured to be worth $20million.

Discussing the book with Today’s LA correspondent Sam Rubin, Karl asked: ‘Is it really going to be his story or Meghan Markle’s?’

This wry remark implied Harry was writing the memoir – which will no doubt be critical of the Royal Family – at the request of his wife, the Duchess of Sussex.

However, Rubin refuted this suggestion, saying it’s more likely Meghan will want to write a multimillion-dollar book of her own.

‘That’s an interesting question because we don’t want to preclude her own book deal, so I suspect it will be more of his story and maybe how they felt,’ he explained.
