A gunman today killed two people, including a police officer, and injured several in a shootout reportedly sparked by a familial argument. A man and his father in central Spain were engaged in a domestic dispute that today came to a bloody end.
The shooter’s neighbour and a policeman were shot dead at a house near Ciudad Real around 140 miles south of Madrid.
A special operation team from Ciudad Real was called out following reports of gunfire.
Officers later shot the gunman dead at the house.
The neighbour was reportedly shot dead when he tried to mediate in the argument between the gunman and his father.
Following this, the shooter barricaded himself in the house located on the road between Argamasilla de Calatrava and Villamayor de Calatrava.
Here, the man shot at cars “indiscriminately”, according to some reports, killing one police officer.
Another officer is understood to have been wounded while giving aid to another who had been shot.
