    He rose to prominence in the gritty film and TV series, This Is England. 

    And Thomas Turgoose reunited with the show’s director, Shane Meadows on Friday to shoot new scenes for the upcoming BBC drama, The Gallows Pole, in Yorkshire. 

    The actor, 25, donned a period costume for the new series – based on the 2017 novel of the same name -as he chatted to the visionary, 48, in between takes.

    Thomas donned a sage green waist coat with a drab shirt underneath and contrasting burnt orange neckerchief. 

    He sported chunky clogs and grey socks beneath cropped brown trousers. 

    Meanwhile Shane wrapped up in a plum-coloured jumper and green gilet which he paired with a black knitted beanie. 

    He draped a pair of headphones and a lanyard around his neck for a conversation with his leading stars.

    Thomas was joined by actress Charlotte Ockleton who sported a fitted corset jacket and white dress. Her hair was tucked up in braid and she wore minimal make-up on set. 

    She filmed a scene where she ran down a narrow street and then into a building. She re-emerged moments later and followed Thomas’s character back down the street. 

    Other actors were seen wearing period costumes as they sported face masks and checked their phone in between scenes. 

    The drama series, based on the 2017 novel by Benjamin Myers, entails a dramatic interpretation of the true story of 18th-century ironworker David Hartley and the Cragg Vale Coiners.

    David learnt his craft in Birmingham before swiftly moving to Mytholmroyd in West Yorkshire in a bid to escape the authorities. 

    Upon return to his home, Bell House Farmhouse, the ironworker used his skills to clip the edges of gold coins, milling the edges back so the change was unnoticeable before using the shavings to make counterfeit coins. 

    Shane previously said he was ‘buzzing’ to make the series as he has never made a period drama before.

    The actor has revealed that co-star Stephen Graham and director Shane offered to adopt him following the death of his mother, Sharon. 

    She passed away of cancer shortly after This Is England finished filming.
