The Talk SNUBBED from major Daytime Emmy Awards… as the staff is reportedly ‘demoralized’ from Sharon Osbourne’s exit

    • The show didn’t receive a nomination for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host for the first time in seven years and Outstanding Talk Show Entertainment for the first time in nine years
    • The Talk did pick up technical nominations for Outstanding Lighting Direction, Outstanding Technical Team, Outstanding Hairstyling and Outstanding Makeup
    • A new report also claims that staffers have felt ‘demoralized’ since Sharon Osborne’s controversial exit from the show
    • Another host, Carrie Ann Inaba, also revealed in late April she’s taking some time off from the show
    • Jerry O’Connell is reportedly in final talks to replace Osborne on the show

After what has already been a rocky start to the year, The Talk has been SNUBBED from the major categories at the Daytime Emmy Awards.

The Talk was nominated for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show and Outstanding Informative Talk Show Host for the 2020 Daytime Emmy Awards.

When the nominations for the 2021 Daytime Emmy Awards were announced on Tuesday, though, it marked the first time in seven years it wasn’t up for the Informative Talk Show award, and the first time in nine years it was snubbed for the host award.

The Talk did receive nominations in technical categories with Outstanding Lighting Direction, Outstanding Technical Team, Outstanding Hairstyling and Outstanding Makeup.

Still, their ouster in the main categories was significant, with newcomer The Drew Barrymore Show seemingly taking The Talk’s place in the Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show nominations.

The Drew Barrymore Show was joined by last year’s dual winners The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Kelly Clarkson Show along with Live with Kelly and Ryan and NBC’s Today Show with Hoda & Jenna.

The Daytime Emmy snub is the latest blow to the show, which is now hosted by Sheryl Underwood, Amanda Kloots and Elaine Welteroth.

Sharon Osborne left the show in March after an on-air spat with Underwood, while Inaba announced in April she’s taking a break from the show.

These departures have left the show’s staff feeling ‘demoralized,’ according to sources from The Sun.

‘The staff feels totally demoralized. Everyone is sad. It’s the first time in nine years the show hasn’t been nominated for outstanding talk show,’ the source said.

‘The staff needed their spirits lifted with a nomination to at least feel like they are doing a good job,’ the source added.

The Talk also slipped to become the lowest-rated daytime show after Osborne’s departure, which has not been good for morale.

‘To be the lowest-rated network daytime show and now to be told by industry peers that your show isn’t worth a nomination is a hideous feeling,’ a source added.

‘The bad ratings say the audience doesn’t care, but an Emmy snub means the show isn’t respected in the industry and that hurts,’ the source continued.

Jerry O’Connell is reportedly in final talks to replace Osborne on the show, who has been hosting The Talk’s Men of May special episodes.
