The Block is already at the centre of controversy with plans for next year’s season facing backlash from locals in the proposed site in Byron Bay .
But the forthcoming 2021 season of Nine’s hit renovation show will also have its fair share of scandal, according to host Scott Cam.
The 58-year-old revealed to TV Week that a ‘cheating scandal’ – billed as the biggest in the franchise’s history – will ‘change everything’.

‘There’s something massive on the horizon that comes from the contestants themselves and it turns The Block on its head,’ said the TV tradie.
Returning contestant Ronnie Caceres, who starred alongside wife Georgia in the 2017 season, described the moment as ‘the biggest cheating scandal in TV history’.
The as-yet undisclosed scandal will be one of several shake-ups this season as the contestants renovate a cul-de-sac of homes in the Melbourne suburb of Hampton.
The 2021 series will also see contestants building with ‘no plans’ for the first time.

It comes days after a Byron Bay resident who is suffering from cancer and is in palliative care revealed she’d refused to sell her home of 11 years to Block producers.
The Nine show allegedly wanted to purchase her property for the 2022 season.
But Dorothy May, 74, said she’d rejected an offer of $2million, despite this being $500,000 above her home’s market value.

‘I live in the middle of five houses [they want to use] and I won’t sell,’ she said.
Ms May also claimed other sales in her area had ‘been verbally agreed to’ after production was moved from Melbourne to the trendy NSW coastal town.
‘All of these houses have been substantially renovated in the last two years to a very high standard,’ she argued.

‘It is disgusting that a reality TV company can destroy perfectly good homes and create havoc in a quiet neighbourhood.
‘As you can imagine this is very upsetting for me causing stress and sleepless nights.
‘I am 74, a cancer patient under palliative care, I cannot imagine how the six months of the construction site will affect me. It is already making me feel sick.’
Another local claimed he’d spent hundreds of thousands of dollars renovating a property which was now set to be knocked for the show.
‘I spent six years and something like $200,000 renovating,’ they said.
‘It’s full of rosewood joinery, custom bathrooms and kitchen. The backyard studio was only built about three years ago.’
Another resident said: ‘I get that Byron Bay is a special place, even if I found my last years living there borderline unbearable, but rolling into town with a giant chequebook and putting cancer patients in impossible situations is pretty s**tty.’
A Nine spokesman told Daily Mail Australia: ‘We will not add to speculation on future seasons of The Block, as we’ll announce plans once a decision has been made.’
The new season of The Block: Fans vs Faves is set to premiere on August 8.
The former contestants returning to compete as ‘Faves’ include season seven’s Mitch Edwards and Mark McKie, and season 13’s Ronnie and Georgia Caceres.
They will compete against Love Island Australia twins Josh and Luke Packham, Tanya and Vito Guccione, and Kirsty Lee Akers and Jesse Anderson.
