A teaching assistant in the US faces jail after pleading guilty to charges relating to a sexual relationship with a student. Ashley Rison, a 31-year-old former employee at New Miami School in Ohio, admitted sexual battery and gross sexual imposition following allegations she had sex with a 17-year-old. Rison allegedly told the pupil not to report her to authorities.

She could now be jailed for five years after pleading guilty to the charges on Wednesday.

Rison’s indictment states she had sex with the teenager on eight different occasions in April last year.

The alleged crimes were reported to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office on May 3, 2021.

Rison quit her role at the school the same day.

Lindsay Sheehan, Butler County, Ohio Assistant Prosecutor previously said in court: “In addition to what the child tells us, we do have recordings between Ms. Rison and the child of where Ms. Rison makes multiple incriminating statements in asking, begging the child not to report her to the authorities.”

Risen pleaded guilty to sexual battery and gross sexual imposition at Butler County Common Pleas Court.

She has been charged with sexual battery and gross sexual imposition but not “rape by force”, prosecutors said.

As well as being a teaching assistant since August 2015, Rison was also a coach for the girls’ softball and basketball teams, WXIX-TV reported.

She will now await her sentencing, which is set to take place on November 16.

She may also be required to register as a sex offender.

Rison was given a GPS tracker after paying 10 per cent of her $10,000 bail.

Superintendent Rhonda Parker said: “Ashley Ra-Nae Rison is no longer employed by the New Miami Local School Board.

“Effective May 3, 2021, Ms Rison resigned from her position as Paraprofessional and Coach.

“New Miami Local Schools has no further comment at this time.”
