Afghanistan’s interior ministry said the workers were shot dead in the northern province of Baghlan.

Another 14 workers, part of UK-US non-governmental organization HALO Trust, were injured in the ambush.

The Taliban have not yet issued a statement confirming they carried out the attack, but Tareq Arian, Afghan interior ministry spokesman, pointed the finger at the terrorist organisation.

Speaking to reporters, Mr Arian said the Taliban “entered a compound of a mine-clearing agency… and started shooting everyone”.
