Donald Trump has praised Liz Truss just days after the Prime Minister was forced to scrap her plan to abolish the 45p tax rate from her mini-budget. Ms Truss’ Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng unveiled a series of measures which would lower the UK tax burden during a fiscal event last month.
Mr Trump welcomed the measures and voiced his surprise at the Prime Minister taking “hits” over her tax-cutting agenda.
Speaking to actor-turned-political-activist Laurence Fox on GB News, the 45th President said: “I like some of the things she’s done, she seems very nice, a lot of times, finance is inverse.
“I cut taxes substantially and we did much more business, she’s done that and she’s taken some hits from it which surprises me.
“It could be that at the end of the year, there will be bigger revenues, it’s going to be very interesting.

“What she did was very inverse to what some people thought, but that doesn’t mean that they were right, I have a feeling that she will be right.”
However, Mr Trump also dealt ex-Prime Minister Boris Johnson a major blow.
He claimed Ms Truss’ predecessor was ousted from Number 10 after he decided to pursue a “woke” and “liberal” agenda.
Mr Trump said: “Boris was a friend of mine, perhaps he still is but I haven’t spoken to him in a while.

According to a recent opinion poll by ABC News and Washington Post, Mr Trump could become just the second POTUS to serve two non-consecutive terms in the Oval Office.
The survey gave Mr Trump a two-point lead over Joe Biden, a margin which would likely help the two-time Republican nominee flip Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
However, Mr Trump is currently embroiled in several legal battles.
His lawyers have asked the Supreme Court to step in on the case surrounding classified documents recovered from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home in Florida.
Mr Trump has also filed a $475m lawsuit against CNN for defamation.
