Sebastian Vettel could be stripped of second place at the Hungarian Grand Prix after one litre of fuel was not available from his car at the end of the race, reports claim. The German powered on to secure second place for Aston Martin in Budapest ahead of a determined Lewis Hamilton as Esteban Ocon reigned supreme.
It was a truly breathtaking spectacle in Hungary that exploded into life right from the get-go as Valtteri Bottas caused a major crash.
Following the restart, the drivers then headed to the pits to combat the rain but Hamilton was instructed to continue.
He was racing on his own on the grid in extraordinary scenes before Mercedes eventually instructed him to return to the pits.
Hamilton then fell to 15th place before fighting back to finish a respectable third behind Vettel and Ocon.
Yet it’s now emerged that the Aston Martin star could lose his second place finish due to the lack of fuel in his tank.
FIA rules state you need 1.0L but they could only take 0.3L from his car.
He was then referred to the stewards and George Russell could also follow after he stopped just after the red flag.
