SAS Australia star reveals they made a secret ‘off-screen deal’ with a fellow recruit before the show was filmed
A recruit on this year’s SAS Australia has revealed they made a ‘secret pact’ with a fellow contestant before the show had even started filming.
On Wednesday, Dan Ewing, 36, told news.com.au that he had spoken to Bra Boy Koby Abberton, 42, off-camera about the infamous boxing match they knew would take place later in the season.
After the ruthless fight between recruits took centre stage in the 2020 series, Dan said he and Koby had agreed to not ‘try to kill each other’ if they were paired, but not necessarily to ‘just step through the motions’ either.

‘We knew they were going to do the boxing thing – so I said, “You know what’s going to happen here, our boys are the same age. I don’t want them to see their dads knocking each other’s heads off,”‘ Dan told Koby before they arrived at base camp.
However, when the duo were eventually paired together, the Home and Away actor confirmed their off-screen vow went completely out of the window.
‘When we stepped out, I saw [Koby’s] eyes and they were just red,’ he said.
‘I was just like, “I’ve made a mistake here”. He’s smaller but he’s a trained fighter, so I was just like… protect the face!’

Koby was eventually declared the winner of the challenge.
However, he later left the show due to an ongoing back injury, while Dan has made it to the final five recruits.
Indeed, the brutal boxing challenge has caused a huge amount of controversy both this season and the last.
In 2020, Roxy Jacenko ended her friendship with Candice Warner after they faced off against each other.

While Candice happily took several swipes at Roxy, the Sydney publicist refused to retaliate because of their longstanding friendship.
It’s believed the pair still haven’t made up to this day.
Meanwhile, singer Pete Murray was forced to pull out of this season’s course after dislocating his elbow following his fight with tennis player Mark Philippoussis.
