Sam Quek has revealed she’s pregnant with her second child, seven months after welcoming a baby girl.

The Question of Sport panellist, 33, shared the joyous news with OK! magazine on Monday, admitting the news came as a shock to herself and husband Tom Mairs.

The former footballer – who is 17 weeks pregnant – admitted: ‘It’s come along quite quickly, so we were pleasantly surprised!’

Sam’s due date is just two weeks after her daughter Molly turns one on March 2.

Sam explained: ‘It was a surprise but we didn’t stop it happening, if that makes sense. We did discuss after Molly that we’d like kids close together and what close together meant.

‘My close together was 18 months and I wanted to start trying after Christmas. But Tom’s close together was to start trying after my six-week check!’

It comes after Sam announced she’d welcomed her first child in March.

On 20 February, Sam joked that she hoped the Merseyside derby would be just the kick her little one needed to finally make an appearance.

The Olympic gold medallist, who was 40 weeks and two days pregnant at the time, showed off her baby bump in a Liverpool FC shirt.

Sam captioned the photo: ‘It’s Derby Day and I’m 40wks+2! Hoping for an exciting one to help things along. #LiveEve #YNWA #LFC #40Weeks.’

The former I’m A Celebrity star announced she was expecting a baby girl with her husband Tom in November, revealing that she was due in February.

The Olympic gold medallist explained she finally felt ready to reveal the pregnancy after suffering a miscarriage at the beginning of 2020.

Talking alongside her husband, Sam told OK! Magazine: ‘It’s been quite surreal because we’ve kept it private. Being able to talk about it, it now feels real. I’m really, really excited.’

At the beginning of 2020, Sam and Tom discovered they were five weeks pregnant after a year of trying to conceive. But five weeks later Sam miscarried.

‘I didn’t want to speak to anyone. I had guilt and shame that it was my fault,’ Sam explained of the devastating time.

‘I was looking back at everything I did during pregnancy and replaying every single minute. I put it all on me and my body. But I never said that to Tom at the time.’

Sam and Tom ended up having a big row three months after their loss which cleared the air between them. Meanwhile lockdown meant the busy pair had their schedules freed up to allow them to reconnect.

Sam and Tom married at Chester Racecourse in 2018 after getting engaged in June 2017 when Tom proposed during a holiday in Tenerife.

Having shared her 2016 experience in the I’m A Celeb jungle with the likes of Carol Vorderman and Scarlett Moffatt, Sam had her co-stars firmly on the wedding guest list.

‘We did karaoke roulette and stuck everybody’s name in a bucket. Carol Vorderman’s was the fourth name out of the bucket so I did a nice duet with her,’ she said at the time.

Before turning her hand to TV, Sam was an English former field hockey player, playing as a defender for both the England and Great Britain teams.

She won gold as part of the British team at the 2016 Summer Olympics.
