Health Secretary Sajid Javid confirmed on Saturday afternoon that he had tested positive to the coronavirus.
The Conservative frontbencher shared the news on his personal Twitter account with a video message to the British public.
Accompanying the video, Mr Sajid renewed his appeal to Britons to come forward for their Covid jabs, saying: “This morning I tested positive for Covid. I’m waiting for my PCR result, but thankfully I have had my jabs and symptoms are mild.
“Please make sure you come forward for your vaccine if you haven’t already.”
