The Royal Mail has barred staff from hanging the England flag from any one of its 45,000 vans and lorries amid Euro 2020 hype. Mini flags and stickers have also been banned from trolleys, according to The Sun. Mike Graham has slammed the reasoning behind why Royal Family said posties cannot show their support for the England football team.

The talkRADIO presenter said: “I want to give you a little message from talkRADIO and of course not me but from the entire home of common sense.

“Many of you will have been watching the euros over the past few days, many of you would have been talking about all sorts of things to do with England, Gareth Southgate, the Scotland game coming up.

“You might have been watched Wales and their victory yesterday but whatever you do have most people who like to watch the football like to have a bit of pride in the national flag.

“Now the Royal Mail has got many posties, many of whom are England supporters. The Royal Mail represents of course some of the greatest things this country does.”

He added: “A lot of the posties from the Royal Mail that they want to fly an England flag from their post office vehicle. Now it might not even be a van, it might be a small bike or one of those things they push because during the euros people like to fly the English flag.

“But guess what? The Royal Mail says they can’t do it, there are 100,000 posties in England who want to wave the St George flag because they’re proud of being English, proud of the football team and want to show their support.

“The post office and the Royal Mail say it has a policy preventing drivers from attaching items to their vehicles in case they blow off and become road hazards.

“Let’s face it if you have ever attached something to your car by way of a flag, it’s a very simple thing to do, you can even buy a flag with an attachment.”

It comes as drivers face a £1,000 fine for flying large England flags on cars.

Many have opted to clip small flags to car windows but they’ve been warned anything larger may land themselves in trouble with the law.

Such items could obscure the driver’s vision, Wales Online reports.

If they do, it would risk convening Regulation 30 of The Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986, which states motorists must have a full view of the road and traffic ahead.
