The Royal Family have been urged to “shut down” attacks against Meghan Markle and Prince Harry “immediately”. Another controversy was stirred surrounding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s decision to name their new daughter after the Queen. Royally Obsessed podcast hosts Roberta Fiorito and Rachel Bowie discussed why the monarchy had not dismissed claims that the monarch had not been asked for permission.
Ms Bowie told listeners: “The Firm does have the power to shut down this narrative.
“That’s where I really get confused why they’re not.
“They can clarify – it just feels like they have a bone to pick with the Sussexes forever.
“So that’s been my low of this whole situation.”

Ms Fiorito added: “It would look much better for them if they just shut it down immediately.
“The Daily Mail suggested that the Queen was hard of hearing so if they did have the conversation with her, that might be why there is a row now.
“That’s next level, truly outdone themselves.
“They’re now insulting the Queen to say something bad about Harry and Meghan’s choices.”
There were claims that the Sussexes did not ask permission to use the moniker.
The BBC also published a report from a Palace source that claimed this too.
The Duke and Duchess’ attorneys have now issued a legal letter accusing the broadcaster of “false and defamatory” reporting over the story.
The Sussexes’ spokesperson claimed: “The Duke spoke with his family in advance of the announcement – in fact his grandmother was the first family member he called.
“During that conversation, he shared their hope of naming their daughter Lilibet in her honour. Had she not been supportive, they would not have used the name.”
