Fans can breathe a sigh of relief however, as the character is not leaving permanently and will be back.

Rose’s exit as Frankie is only a break to allow her to focus her energy on Strictly Come Dancing.

Speaking to Metro, she said: “Normally, EastEnders makes you work at the same time as doing Strictly, but EastEnders gave me time off, so I can just focus on Strictly completely.”

She’s been topping the leaderboard for weeks with her professional dance partner Giovanni Pernice, and secured the first 40 of the series recently.

The actress is now hotly tipped to be crowned as the champion of the dancing show.

Frankie’s exit comes as she and her sister finally put their long-running feud to bed after Frankie hit her with her car.

Things reached a boiling point when Nancy locked Frankie in the boot of her car which was then stolen by Liam Butcher.

The latest episode saw the sisters finally make up, with Nancy admitting that she felt jealous of the close bond Frankie had with Mick.

Frankie made the decision to take some time out to give Nancy some alone time with her father.

When Mick discovered she was leaving, he raced after her to beg her to stay, but Frankie told him: ‘I know how close you [and Nancy] were. I don’t want to be the person to ruin that.’

She added: ‘None of this has been easy. I need time out. But I’m so, so glad that I found you.’

Mick let Frankie leave and gave her a hug and kiss before declaring: “I love the bones of you, and I always will. Go.”

EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
