‘You can feel the heavy weight hanging over us, sort of a cloud, there’s a cloud and it makes things harder,’ Wippa continued.
‘Where we live is the flight path to the gap that that helicopter takes and when I sit there at night and I can hear the chopper flying over above I just can’t sit comfortably, I feel for the people, I feel for the families, it just makes me feel sick.’
Wippa also discussed his own battles with mental illness.

‘It’s been funny with me in the past, I can see it coming, I notice patterns or that I can’t clear my mind so easy and I get caught on thoughts so I’m very alert and aware of that so I don’t spiral further,’ he said.
‘Sometimes there’s triggers. Anyway, I see it, I watch it, I’ll drop all alcohol and make sure I exercise as much as I can.’
He also said it’s important that ‘people out there know there is care and help here for you’.

‘Sometimes for people out there, it just feels impossible. It’s impossible to get out of bed, it’s impossible to talk to anybody and it’s impossible to find a reason to be there. It’s the darkest place on the planet. We need to reinforce to anybody going through that, that there is care here for you,’ he said. Pictured Wippa and wife Lisa
