PSG are intent on building a squad to finally take them to Champions League glory, with a trio of big-name signings expected to be completed in the coming weeks.
The Paris club were knocked out of Europe’s elite competition by Manchester City at the semi-final stage last season, having beaten Bayern Munich and Barcelona under the guidance of coach Mauricio Pochettino en-route to the final four.
And PSG chiefs are intent on further strengthening the squad this summer as a result, particularly after the club missed out on the Ligue 1 title for the first time in four seasons, with Lille finishing a point ahead of them at the top of the table.
Georginio Wijnaldum is expected to be the first major new player to arrive at PSG this summer, with a deal likely to be agreed this week.
The Dutch midfielder’s Liverpool contract expires at the end of June, and PSG have successfully hijacked Barcelona’s approach for the 30-year-old.
“Wijnaldum has decided to join Paris Saint-Germain,” transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano reported this week.

PSG have also been heavily linked with a move for Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Keylor Navas is expected to stay in Paris as the current first-choice, but the Paris chiefs see Donnarumma as a potential contender for the club’s No. 1 jersey for the next decade.
And, in a further statement of intent, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi says that the club will never sell star striker Kylian Mbappe, despite interest across Europe.
“I will be clear, Mbappe is going to stay in Paris,” Al-Khelaifi said this week.
“We will never sell him and he will never leave on a free. Mbappe has everything he needs in Paris.
“Where can he go? What club, in terms of ambition, can compete with PSG today?
“All I can say is that things are going well, and I hope we can reach an agreement.
“This is Paris, this is his country. He has a mission, not only to play football, but to promote Ligue 1, his country and his capital.”
