The Prince of Wales reportedly wrote to the troops whilst they were in Afghanistan and thanked them for their “indomitable Para spirit” during the withdrawal from the country. Prince Charles is the Colonel-in-Chief of the regiment involved in Operation Pitting, the mission evacuating British nationals from Kabul after the Taliban takeover.
He wrote in the letter: “You are not only an outstanding credit to the Parachute Regiment but also to this country, which, without doubt, is more fortunate than it can know in having such dedicated and courageous people as yourselves ready to step forward at such a crucial time of need.
“I could not be more proud of you.”
The letter to the troops finished with the regiment’s motto, “Utrinque Paratus”, meaning “ready for anything.”
The comments follow just days after Prince William, who once served with the British Army, helped a former acquaintance of his escape the clutches of the Taliban.
Prince William attended the Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst in 2006.
According to the Daily Telegraph, Prince William met the Afghan officer when he was at Sandhurst.
The officer had reportedly joined the Afghan National Army, however his family and himself had difficulty getting a flight to safety.
Prince William helped the situation by contacting Naval officer Rob Dixon, who has served as his equerry since September.

However, Prince Harry left the army in 2015 to spend his time serving the Crown full time.
