In a new chapter of ‘Battle of Brothers’, the author and royal expert Robert Lacey claimed the Princess of Wales “never had much time for” the US broadcaster. According to Mr Lacey, in the mid-1990s Oprah was keen on getting a one-to-one interview with Diana.
The US chat show host is said to have flown to London to try and convince the royal to do an interview.
Mr Lacey explained that Diana had decided to play a prank on Oprah and invited her to Kensington Palace for lunch.
Oprah had recently lost 40lbs through a new diet at the time.
The expert wrote that Diana asked her personal chef Darren McGrady to prepare his special tomato mousse for Oprah’s visit.

The Princess of Wales is said to have been wary of the US broadcaster.
Simone Simmons, a friend of the Princess, also told the royal author: “Diana felt very uncomfortable with Oprah.
“She thought that Oprah was only after sensationalism – like when she interviewed Fergie about her book, and all she wanted to talk about was Diana.”
Diana was said to be concerned that Oprah wanted the interview to improve her TV ratings.
However, Diana’s son Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle decided do a sit down interview with Oprah earlier this year.
