Mr Corden briefly discussed Harry and Meghan’s decision to leave the Firm during a radio interview. The British host, who like the Duke of Sussex is now living in California, said he “cannot imagine any of it is easy” when asked about Megxit.

He told US radio host Howard Stern: “But I do not think any person in such a position in his life is easy.

“I have never really spoken about it to him in depth.”

Mr Corden also discussed his relationship with the Duke of Sussex.

He said: “The Harry you saw on the clip we did on the open-top bus, that to me is a great reflection of the person I know.”

He continued: “He lives in Santa Barbara, an hour-and-a-half away, so I have not seen him a huge amount.

“I am in contact with him. I am very fond of him.”

Mr Corden was the first TV host to interview Prince Harry in the US.

The pair took part in a special episode of the Late Late Show with James Corden, part of it was filmed at the top of a double-decker being driven around Los Angeles.

During the interview, filmed in February, Prince Harry joked about his royal status and discussed the possibility of buying the iconic mansion where the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air was filmed.

But he also touched upon more serious topics, including his relationship with his grandparents and why he stepped down as senior royal.

Speaking about quitting the Firm, Harry said “it was stepping back rather than stepping down”.

He continued: “As far as I am concerned, whatever decisions are made on that side, I will never walk away, I will always be contributing.

“My life is public service so wherever I am in the world it’s going to be the same thing.”

When asked what life would be like for him and Meghan after the pandemic, Prince Harry replied: “I have no idea.

“A slightly different version, but a continuation of what we were doing back in the UK.

“My life is always going to be about public service, and Meghan has signed up to that and both of us enjoy doing it.”

Speaking fondly about the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, Harry also revealed he was in touch with his grandparents, sometimes via video call so they could see Archie.

Stunning Mr Corden, Harry revealed the monarch gave Archie a waffle maker for Christmas.

He said: “My grandmother asked what Archie wanted for Christmas… Meg said a waffle maker.

“So she sent us a waffle maker for Archie. He loves it.

“Archie wakes up in the morning and says: ‘waffle!’”

Mr Corden and his wife Julia Carey were among the guests attending Prince Harry and Meghan’s wedding at St George’s Chapel in May 2018.

The comedian described the nuptials as “one of the most beautiful ceremonies I’ve ever been to.”

He added: “It was gorgeous, the whole affair, it was happy and it was joyous. It was uplifting.”
