Prince Harry has been accused of “[running] straight to his lawyers” as a battle tactic by royal commentators. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s attorneys sent a legal letter to the BBC after the national broadcaster reported that the couple did not ask the Queen to use the name Lilibet for their newborn daughter, a claim the Sussexes rejected. Host of The Royal Beat – available on True Royalty TV – Kate Thornton and royal author Phil Dampier spoke about the threat.

Mr Dampier told The Royal Beat: “It was the middle of the night when he started consulting his lawyers.

    “It was absolutely extraordinary.

“This is what worries me about him.

“Whenever anything critical appears he runs straight to his lawyers.”

They claim: “The Duke spoke with his family in advance of the announcement – in fact, his grandmother was the first family member he called.

“During that conversation, he shared their hope of naming their daughter Lilibet in her honour. Had she not been supportive, they would not have used the name.”

Lilibet ‘Lili’ Diana Mountbatten-Windsor was born in the United States on June 4.

Her names are a tribute to the Queen and Harry’s mother, Princess Diana.
