Prince Charles will carry out the COVID-safe ceremony at St James’s Palace, the Palace said. This comes after all investitures were put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The last traditional ceremony took place in early 2020, before Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced the first national lockdown.

However, the Queen decided to host a special ceremony to Captain Tom Moore, the veteran who raised more than £30million for the NHS ahead of his 100th birthday.

That investiture took place on July 17 in the Quadrangle at Windsor Castle.

Normally, these ceremonies see several attendees being honoured at either Buckingham Palace or St James’s Palace.
