Pregnant Stacey Solomon gets emotional as son Rex, 2, has his hair cut for the first time

Her youngest son has long blond ringlets. 

And, pregnant Stacey Solomon got emotional as Rex, 2, had his curls trimmed for the first time, on Thursday, after asking for a haircut. 

The former X Factor star, 33, admitted she felt ‘so sad’ as she took to her Instagram Stories to share videos and snaps of the experience.

Stacey explained that she had taken her children with her to try on outfits for her next InTheStyle clothing collection. 

She wrote: ‘Aw. While we were here I needed to trim my hair at the front, Rex saw and asked to have his hair cut. So I called Joe Joe and we decided to give him his first trim.’ 

Over videos of her son sitting calmly while having his blond locks trimmed, Stacey added: ‘He actually loved sitting having it done so much. He loves his hair being brushed.

‘I felt really emotional but Penny who is cutting it has been cutting Joe’s hair for 11 years and mine for 5 so it felt a little bit special.’

Showing off the final look, which is marginally shorter than before, Stacey admitted: ‘It was just a trim I’m not ready to give him a buzz cut yet. But I feel so sad for some reason like he’s really growing up.’  

Another snap of Rex showed his hair looking less curly, and she explained: ‘Penny said when he washes it and it dries his little ringlets will come back (I may or may not have got emotional about it.’

‘I’ve collected up his hair in a bag like a psychopath . Happy first haircut Pickle.’

Rex’s haircut comes after Joe Swash, 39, revealed during an Instagram Q&A session the heartwarming reason why he and Stacey have postponed their wedding.

One curious fan asked the soap star if he and pregnant Stacey would be tying the knot before the baby arrives, which triggered Joe to explain that they won’t be as they’d like ‘all their kids’ to be at the big day. 

He began by gushing that he would marry Stacey ‘tomorrow’ if he could, but admitted that the decision to postpone their wedding was a mutual one, explaining: ‘We both wanted to wait until next year that way all of the kids can be there.’

The couple already share a son Rex, two – and Joe is a stepdad to Stacey’s other children Zachary, 13, and nine-year-old Leighton.
