Archaic royal rules meant Archie Harrison was not made a prince from birth as he is a great-grandchild to the monarch. Archie will only be entitled to the prestigious royal title when Prince Charles becomes King.
However, Charles has reportedly told the Duke and Duchess of Sussex he will change the rules so Archie is not given the title as part of his plans to slim down the Royal Family.
A subsequent poll of more than 20,000 Express.co.uk readers has found the overwhelming majority believe Archie should not be given the royal accolade.
The survey conducted on June 20 from 11.33am to 10pm asked 20,033 online readers: “Should Archie be made a prince when Charles becomes King?”
A huge 95 percent (19,090) of online readers believe Archie should not and voted “no”.
Just over four percent (807) say Meghan and Harry’s son should be made a prince and voted “yes”.
Meanwhile, less than one percent (136) remained unsure and said they did not know.
A number of Express.co.uk readers let their opinions known in the comments section of the poll story.
Many readers pointed out the decision by Meghan and Harry to quit the Royal Family and the verbal attacks they have since launched at the institution.
One reader wrote: “No title and both parents should have their’s removed now.”
A second added: “Harry rejected royal life for himself and his family. No problem. The title goes with the job. Don’t do the job, don’t get the title. Hardly rocket science. Common sense.”
A third commented: “It is ludicrous that we have a Prince being raised in a foreign country. His parents has denounced their royalty. It, therefore, makes sense he is no longer a royal.”
A fourth said: “How could Archie legitimately be a prince when his parents have trashed the monarchy and adopted a life of showbiz.”
Meanwhile, a fifth simply said: “Still want the cake and eat it.”

A source told the Mail on Sunday: “Harry and Meghan were told Archie would never be a Prince, even when Charles became King.”
An insider added: “Charles has never made any secret of the fact that he wants a slimmed-down monarchy when he becomes King.
“He realises that the public don’t want to pay for a huge monarchy and, as he said, the balcony at Buckingham Palace would probably collapse.”
