The next season of The Bachelor with pilot Jimmy Nicholson is fast approaching.

But before signing up to the Channel 10 dating show, Daily Mail Australia can reveal that Jimmy, 31, was working as a volunteer Surf Life Saver in Sydney.

Having temporarily been stood down as a pilot due to the global coronavirus pandemic in June 2020, Jimmy decided to put his time to good use.

The Bondi-based hunk and several of his pilot friends enlisted to become surf life savers, just four months before he was announced as the 2021 Bachelor.

Dressed in a yellow and red life saving uniform, Jimmy can be seen smiling as he posed for a series of oceanside photos shared to his Instagram account.

‘Day for it,’ he wrote underneath the series of photos.

Jimmy was announced as Australia’s new Bachelor in March.

He told The Daily Telegraph he’d signed up for the role because his career as a commercial airline pilot had made it difficult for him to find a long-term partner.

‘I was never in the same spot for too long,’ he explained, before adding: ‘I am ready to open up my heart and meet someone.

‘I hope to meet someone with similar values that I can have fun with and that shares the same zest for life as myself. The Bachelor franchise has produced many success stories and I hope to be the next.’

The Bachelor’s ninth season will air on Channel 10 later this year
