Kate, 39, is expected to become patron of the Rugby Football Union (RFU) and Rugby Football League (RFL) – and a story has surfaced offering insight into life in the Middleton home growing up. Kate and sister Pippa, 37, were raised in Bucklebury, Berkshire where Michael, 72, and mum Carole, 66, still live.

The Sunday Times suggests that, in the coming months, Kate will be assigned the prestigious posts of RFL and RFU patron – roles previously held by brother-in-law Prince Harry, who stepped back from royal duties in February.

The Queen confirmed that, in stepping back, it would not be possible for the Duke of Sussex to continue with his honorary military appointments and Royal patronages.

October and November are reported as likely months for Kate to be unveiled as Harry’s successor.
