The Met Office has released a weather warning for stormy conditions. Forecasters with the agency believe “clusters” of thunderstorms and heavy rain will descend on the UK over the next few hours. Only a small portion of England will feel the bluster, and just until tonight.

Weather warnings from the agency state the storm system could pour out nearly an inch of rain within just three hours.

The warning reads: “Clusters of heavy showers and thunderstorms have developed and will affect the area over the next few hours, giving rise to some very localised areas of torrential rain, lightning, hail and gusty winds.

“Rainfall accumulations of 20-30 mm are possible in less than an hour which may lead to surface water impacts.

“Thunderstorms will tend to move east to northeastwards before clearing this evening.”
