Meghan used her full official name in the birth certificate of her daughter, being listed as Rachel Meghan Markle. This marks a stark contrast with the birth certificate of Archie Harrison, where Meghan’s royal title was included.

The birth certificate was obtained from Santa Barbara County in California by TMZ.

It confirmed the information about Lili’s birth already provided by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in their statement, issued two days after the baby’s birth.

Lili was born on June 4 at 11.40am LA time in the care of the doctors and staff at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, California.

Lili’s birth certificate also shows Prince Harry being listed as “His Royal Highness” in the last name field.

Following their decision to quit as senior royals, Prince Harry and Meghan retained their full royal titles.

However, they agreed on no longer using their HRH styles after stepping down as full-time members of the Firm at the end of March 2020.

A statement released by a Sussex spokesperson and released by Buckingham Palace in early 2020 read: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex remain members of the Royal Family and remain named and titled, as such.

“As explained in the January announcement, from spring they will formally retain their titles of ‘His/Her Royal Highness’ but no longer actively use their ‘HRH’s.”

Following Megxit, Meghan and Harry also lost their royal and military patronages.

The use of Prince Harry’s HRH style sparked confusion with organisers of the Royal Style in the Making exhibition at Kensington Palace.

Among the exhibits in display there is the wedding dress of Princess Diana.

This was lent for the display by the princess’ sons William and Harry – as stated by the placard at the exhibition.

However, the Royal Collection Trust, which oversaw the loan, incorrectly used the HRH style when naming the Duke of Sussex on the placard.

This mistake was branded by the Trust an “administrative error” and was later updated, with the placard now reading: “Lent by HRH The Duke of Cambridge and The Duke of Sussex.”

Prince Harry and Meghan used their HRH styles in the birth certificate of their son Archie, born on May 6, 2019 – when they were still full-time working royals.

The original document, released on May 17, 2019, presented the Duchess’s two names and her title.

It read: “Rachel Meghan Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex”.

Prince Harry’s name field read: “His Royal Highness Henry Charles Albert David Duke of Sussex”.

As it emerged earlier this year, the birth certificate had been modified on June 5, 2019, and presented changes to both Meghan and Harry’s name fields.

The Duke of Sussex added the title of “prince”, which had originally been left out.

On the other hand, Meghan’s name field was edited to leave only her full title, Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex.

Yesterday evening, three weeks after the birth of Lili, Prince Harry left California to attend the unveiling of the statue of Princess Diana.

Harry will need to self-isolate for five days, as he is travelling from an amber-list country.

The unveiling ceremony will take place at Kensington Palace on July 1.
