Andrew Morton, an acclaimed Royal author, believes the late Princess of Wales and the Duchess of Sussex would have been two birds of a feather. Speaking on ITV’s Loose Women, Mr Morton explained that both Royals had a similar experience while part of the Firm.

He said: “There are endless stories about Meghan… Diana would see a fellow spirit.

“After just a few months inside the Royal Family herself, Diana, who was not bi-racial or divorced or American, she was part of the aristocracy… she was being called a fiend and a monster by the newspapers.”

Drawing further parallels between the two, Mr Morton explained both women had been accused of “ruling the roost”.

However, he added that both women had claimed to have been bullied themselves.

In addition, Mr Morton points out that Princess Diana and Meghan Markle have been the subject of intense media scrutiny

On July 1, a statue of the late Princess of Wales will be unveiled at Kensington Palace to mark what would have been her 60th birthday.

The statue is set to be unveiled by her two sons, Prince Harry and Prince William.

At the event, the Dukes of Sussex and Cambridge will walk to the statue and deliver separate speeches.

    “There’s a remarkable symmetry here.

“I’m sure she would have felt a real commonality of feeling.”
