    Mary-Kate Olsen is a skilled equestrian as she places THIRD at the Longines Global Champions Tour in Rome


    Actress and fashion mogul Mary-Kate Olsen is also a competitive show jumper.

    The 35-year-old perfected her horse riding skills as she placed third at the Longines Global Champions Tour in Rome on Saturday. 

    Mary-Kate, who rose to fame as a nineties child star alongside twin sister Ashley in TV sitcom Full House, looked like a natural in her equestrian gear and jodhpurs.

    Showing off her style credentials, Mary-Kate accessorised with a trendy pair of narrow-frame black sunglasses.  

    She looked like a natural as she crossed the bars with ease at the prestigious event. 

    While her passion for competitive show jumping may be a surprise to some, the fashion designer first ‘fell in love’ with the sport at age six.

    ‘I was six when I first fell in love and it was with a pony named 4×4,’ Mary-Kate previously revealed in a profile for HITS. 

    Mary-Kate competed on the equestrian team while attending Campbell Hall School in Los Angeles, but later dropped it when she relocated to New York.

    ‘Having horseback riding as an outlet was super important because it allowed me to have another life and outlet outside of work and school,’ she said. ‘I continued to ride through high school and stopped when I moved to New York.’

    ‘I came back to the sport because I missed it every day that I wasn’t riding. It was the hardest thing to leave and the hardest thing to come back to,’ she explained. 

    The Elizabeth & James designer also revealed how her love of horse riding has inspired some of her clothing designs, particularly with structured blazers.
