    Martha Stewart documentary coming to Netflix from Billie Eilish: The World’s A Little Blurry director R.J. Cutler

    After giving fans a glimpse into the road and home life of Billie Eilish, director R.J. Cutler is returning with a new documentary about Martha Stewart.

    The 58-year-old filmmaker has been shopping a documentary about Stewart to potential buyers, with Netflix emerging as the winner for the project, via Variety.

    Netlfix closed the deal for the project last week, though there is no timetable in place yet for when it may be released.

    Cutler had been shopping a sizzle reel for the documentary to buyers, offering an all-access glimpse into the life of Stewart.

    The documentary will follow Stewart’s early life as a New Jersey babysitter to famed New York Yankees players Mickey Mantle and Yogi Berra.

    There have been rumors that some of the first parties she ever hosted and planned were for the ballplayers’ children.

    It’s believed that the massive growth of her company – along with her five-month prison stint for insider trading in 2004 – are on the table for discussion in the doc.

    Cutler will direct the film and also serve as a producer alongside Trevor Smith, Jane Cha Cutler and Alina Cho.

    The documentary will be produced under Industrial Media’s This Machine label, with Elise Pearlstein as executive producer on their behalf. 

    CAA Media Finance and Submarine Entertainment brokered the deal. 

    Stewart herself hasn’t commented publicly on the project through her social media channels at this time.

    Cutler started his career as a documentary producer on the 1994 doc The War Room, about Bill Clinton’s 1992 Presidential campaign.

    He would go on to direct the 1996 doc A Perfect Candidate about Oliver North’s failed Senate run, while also directing episodes of American High, Freshman Diaries, Black.White. and Nashville.

    His other credits include The September Issue, Four Stars and the 2020 documentary Belushi.
