Midfield: Dier, Pogba, Fernandes
Now, hear me out, Eric Dier isn’t the first name that comes to mind when you think of players who can improve United’s midfield next summer.
But Pochettino loved the Englishman and in the latter stages of Mourinho’s tenure, he was pushing for the club to sign him.
Poch may have pushed that request further, with Dier partnering either Paul Pogba or Donny van de Beek, who he wanted to take to Spurs in his final summer, in midfield.
Bruno Fernandes has admitted he came close to joining Spurs in 2019 under Pochettino, and the club may have targeted him in January 2020, but he was sacked before then. United capitalised in the same window, and the rest is history.
