Manchester United have been handed a significant boost ahead of Saturday’s tie with Everton after the inclusion of Luke Shaw in their matchday squad. The England left-back sustained a shoulder injury during last weekend’s defeat by Aston Villa, although he has returned sooner than expected to help United get back to winning ways in the Premier League.

Shaw sat out the Champions League clash with Villarreal on Wednesday with an illness, although he was not thought to have completely returned to fitness.

While on the side-lines, he will have seen deputy left-back Alex Telles score a stunning volley before Cristiano Ronaldo bagged a dramatic winner.

It remains to be seen whether Telles has done enough to keep his place, although Shaw is poised to be involved in some capacity against the Toffees.

Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will need all hands on deck if United are to keep pace with the Premier League’s big boys.
