Man found fatally injured in hallway of a block of flats – murder probe launched

    A murder investigation has been launched after police discovered a man fatally injured in the hallway of a block of flats.

    West Midlands Police were called to the scene in Guild Close, Birmingham, at around 9.10am on Saturday.

    Law enforcement then discovered the man, believed to be in his thirties, at the high rise in the Ladywood area of the city.

    The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

    The force said it was in the initial stages of the probe, and the official cause of death is not yet known.

    A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said:  “We’ve launched a murder investigation after a man found with serious injuries in Birmingham has died.

    “He was discovered in the hallway of a block of flats in Guild Close, Ladywood, at around 9.10am today (8 October).

    “Tragically nothing could be done to revive the man, understood to be aged in his 30s, and he was confirmed dead at the scene.

    “We’re in the very early stages of our investigation and currently carrying out extensive enquiries in the area.

    “A forensic post mortem to establish the man’s cause of death will be held in due course.”

    Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward.
