Manchester City are determined to bring Aston Villa talisman Jack Grealish to Etihad Stadium this summer as boss Pep Guardiola goes in search of his fourth Premier League title in five years. Grealish was in scintillating form for the Villa Park side last season and was part of the England squad which reached the final of this summer’s Euro 2020.

The midfielder captured the imagination of England fans up and down the country during the tournament with his maverick style and boyband good looks.

And he has been hotly tipped for a move to City, who are looking to add to their already potent attack.

If he does get his move to the Premier League champions, Grealish would line up in a world-class side alongside England team-mates Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden.

Grealish could also find himself playing alongside fellow Euro 2020 star Harry Kane, with City chiefs eager to sign the Tottenham striker as well.

So what number could Grealish expect to be given?

And there is good news for Grealish as the number ten shirt is currently available at Etihad Stadium following the departure of Sergio Aguero to Barcelona.

With no one standing in his way, Grealish would jump at the chance of wearing the famous ten jersey.

But if Kane signs, it is likely he will be given the ten instead.

    Number 12

Another shirt which is available to Grealish is the number 12 jersey.

That number was last worn by Angelino during the 2019/20 campaign.

Angelino went to RB Leipzig on loan in January 2020 and made the move permanent earlier this summer.

    Number 14

Grealish began his England Under 21 career in the number 14 shirt.

But that number is already occupied by Aymeric Laporte.

Laporte dropped down the pecking order at Etihad Stadium last time out after the sensational form of centre-back duo Ruben Dias and John Stones.

But the Spain international is likely to hold onto his number.

    Number 40

If Man City don’t want to give Grealish a lower number, they could opt to hand him the number 40.

That’s the squad number Grealish was given when he first broke into the Aston Villa senior set-up.

In fact, Grealish wore the 40 when he made his Villa Premier League debut in May 2014.

And in a romantic twist of fate, that maiden outing came at the Etihad as Villa went down 4-0.
