The incident occured between junction 10 for Duxford and junction 9 for Bishop’s Stortford on the southbound carriageway. Emergency services are currently on the scene with the air ambulance also being called.
There are currently severe traffic delays as road users are held between the junctions.
The northbound carriageway has also long delays to allow the air ambulance to land.
Footage shared on social media shows long queues of traffic at a standstill.
Several road users have been seen standing outside their cars as the traffic does not appear to be moving at any time soon.
