The tunnel – which runs underneath the River Thames – links the London Borough of Tower Hamlets with the Royal Borough of Greenwich. But due to a broken down vehicle, the tunnel has been closed.
According to Good Morning Britain, the closure has sparked up to six miles of traffic.
The University of Greenwich Buses tweeted: “Hi All, the service 0830 Greenwich to A/Hill via Eltham Stn Stop D is operating approx. 10-15mins behind schedule due to earlier issues with Blackwall Tunnel being closed. Sorry for the delays.”
