No10 has confirmed the Prime Minister will be pouring over the data with scientists this weekend to decide whether any rules can be scrapped on July 5.
When Stage 4 of re-opening England’s economy was delayed by a month to July 19, Mr Johnson committed to holding a two-week review of the lockdown measures to see if they could be removed early.
Striking an upbeat note this morning the Prime Minister said it was “looking good for July 19 to be that terminus point” of legal coronavirus restrictions.
With the rate of infection slowing in recent days, there are now hopes some measures could be lifted in the first week of July.
The findings of the data review will be made public next Monday, one week before the potential easing of measures.
