Royal fans are patiently waiting for any news of Lilibet Diana’s christening. The birth has left many hopeful that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will return to the UK for the ceremony. They are thought to be keen to hold the service for their daughter in Windsor.
Reports suggest they also want the Queen to be present.
Lilibet — affectionately named after the Queen’s childhood nickname — was born in Santa Barbara, California, in June.
But while covid travel restrictions between the UK and US are due to be lifted, it remains unclear whether the pair will be able to make it to Britain any time soon.
Veteran royal author and journalist Robert Jobson has claimed speculation around the event is causing “mayhem” for the Queen.
He recently referred to reports that suggest the Queen is “deeply upset” by the various broadcast interviews Harry appeared in earlier this year.
The Duke of Sussex spoke at length in a handful of podcasts and TV programmes about the trauma he claimed to suffer growing up in the Royal Family.
The christening question is just one in a string of events that Meghan and Harry have inflicted on the monarch, Mr Jobson claimed.
In an opinion piece for The Mirror, he commented: “No date has yet been set, but the speculation surrounding the baptism of Harry and Meghan’s baby girl is naturally in full swing.

“After all, their relationship with the family since they stepped down as working royals, and their willingness to blurt out damaging claims on TV, has left its deep scars.”
Despite this, Harry is still said to be close to the Queen.
According to The Sun, he and Meghan have put in a formal request to visit the Queen and get Lilibet christened at Windsor Castle — the Queen’s official residence.
It is a special place for the couple, as they married in St George’s Chapel within the Castle’s ground.
They also christened their first child, Archie, there in 2019 in a ceremony considered private when compared to previous royal christenings.
A source told the Daily Mail: “Harry told several people that they want to have Lili christened in Windsor, just like her brother.
“They are happy to wait until circumstances allow.”
Many have speculated that Lilibet, now three months old, may be christened in the US.
Richard Fitzwilliams told Express.co.uk that there is a high possibility she will be christened in California and said: “It must be likely that she will be christened in California though there were rumours of a possible christening at Windsor.
“Harry and Meghan’s relations with the British press went badly downhill when Archie was christened in private and the names of the godparents were not released.”
It is unknown who would be on the guestlist if Lilibet were christened in the UK.
The list for Archie’s day included Prince Charles, Markle’s mother Doria Ragland, the late Princess Diana’s sisters Lady Jane Fellowes and Lady Sarah McCorquodale, Prince William, Kate Middleton and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, among others.
