The Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings drenching various areas across the UK until Saturday. Northern Ireland will be thrashed with the worst of the torrential rain today from 1pm to 10pm which carries with it a “danger to life” warning due to the risk of flooding. Up to 100mm of rain is expected to fall in some areas with the Met Office warning that where lightning and flooding occurs, there is a chance there will be delays or cancellations to public transport services and roads.
Homes and businesses may also be damaged by flash flooding and people living in an area with an active yellow weather warning are urged to monitor the situation online.
On Friday and Saturday, the yellow thunderstorm warning creeps eastward and will be in place across different parts of Scotland including Central, Tayside and Fife and the south west of Scotland, Strathclyde in Glasgow and the Highlands & Eilean Siar.
The warning is also in place for the East Midlands, the North East England, the North West England, Wales, the West Midlands and Yorkshire and Humber as well as remaining in place for all of Northern Ireland.

The warnings on Friday and Saturday both start at 4am and expire at midnight.
Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions.
The Met Office and RAC has urged the public to drive carefully in these tricky conditions and not to attempt to cross floodwater in a vehicle.
