Liam Payne releases new single Sunshine which features in upcoming animation film Ron's Gone Wrong

Liam Payne released the upbeat video for his new feel-good single Sunshine on Friday.

The 27-year-old singer’s latest track is featured in 20th Century Studios and Locksmith Animation’s animated comedy adventure, Ron’s Gone Wrong, which hits  cinemas around the world in October.

As well as providing a song for the film’s upcoming soundtrack, Liam also voices a character in the comedy.

The official music video for Sunshine, which features the former One Direction star in film-themed set pieces as well as all-new film footage, reflects the feel-good themes of the single.

The singer-songwriter presents purely positive vibes throughout the buoyant video, as he’s filmed relaxing at a breakfast table with a chicken, laying carefree in the grass and dancing in front of a pin board. 

The plot of the film is centred on Barney, a socially awkward school pupil and Ron, his new walking, talking, digitally-connected device, which is supposed to be his ‘best friend out of the box.’

Ron’s hilarious malfunctions launch them into an action-packed journey in which boy and robot come to terms with the wonderful messiness of true friendship. 

Alongside Liam, Zach Galifianakis, Jack Dylan Grazer, Olivia Colman, Ed Helms, Justice Smith and Rob Delaney are a selection of the additional stars who voice characters in the animation film. 

The future motion picture is directed by Sarah Smith and Jean-Philippe Vine, with the former co-writing the script with Peter Baynham.

Liam, who made his singing debut on X Factor in 2008, has sold more than 23 million singles and over three million albums as a solo artist since One Direction. 

He released his debut solo album LP1 in December 2019 on Capitol Records, which included the smash hit singles Strip That Down, Polaroid and Familiar.

He has been streamed a total of 5.1 billion times.

Ron’s Gone Wrong is set to hit cinemas on 22 October.
