King Charles III wore a traditional kilt during his visit to Aberdeen today (October 17). The monarch is in the Scottish city carrying out a number of engagements, which include meeting families who have settled in Aberdeen from Ukraine, Syria and Afghanistan as part of a programme to re-settle refugees in the city.

The king waved to the crowds lining the streets on his visit, smiling at well-wishers and shaking hands with members of the public.

During His Majesty’s visit, the monarch heard how Aberdeen City Council has supported people and met with local dignitaries including Inna Skvortsova, the lead welcome hub officer and a Ukrainian woman who arrived earlier this year as part of a resettlement programme. She now has a full-time role at the council.

King Charles III also joined a reception in the Town and County Hall in the Town House where he met Afghan, Syrian and Ukrainian families who have been supported by Government schemes in Aberdeen.

The King also heard personal stories from families about their evacuation, arrival in Aberdeen and some of the challenges they have faced.
